Creatinine is a waste product that comes from the wear and tear of muscles of the body. Normally creatinine remains in the bloodstream. Elevated creatinine level signifies kidney disease or impaired kidney function. As the kidneys are not functioning properly for any reason, the creatinine level in the blood will increase due to poor clearance of creatinine by the kidneys. An unusual rise in the levels of creatinine thus warns of possible malfunction or failure of the kidneys. Creatinine has been found to be a reliable indicator of kidney function. Elevated creatinine level signifies impaired kidney function. Creatinine levels can increase temporarily from rigorous exercise or using certain medications for chemotherapy drugs. Other causes include diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid disease.

  • Cut on rigorous physical activity. This leads to the breakdown of muscles thus there will be a rise of creatinine in the blood. You can start with yoga as it helps in maintaining health.
  • Maintain your blood pressure. Aside from diabetes, high blood pressure is also a factor that damages kidneys.
  • Reduce your protein intake from meats as red meat contains creatine that after cooking converted into creatinine.
