Honey, also known as Liquid Gold is the treasure chest of many hidden nutritional and medicinal properties. This sweet golden liquid is made by bee’s using the nectar from the flowers. Honey is sweet and good for health but it can be poisonous for infants as the bacteria Clostridium botulinum bacteria may contaminate with honey which may cause infant botulism and produce toxins inside the body of infants. It is advisable to give honey to kids who are of 2 years or above.

Boosts Memory

Nector from the flower in honey is loaded with lots of antioxidants which helps in preventing brain damage. Some studies say that taking a spoon full of honey daily helps postmenopausal women’s memory.

Prevents Cold

There are various ways in which honey helps in preventing and treating cold and coughs. It is, in fact, one of the main ingredients in the home remedies for preventing cold. Mixing Honey with a spoon of ginger juice/with Black Pepper/with Black Salt are some of the ways in which honey can be used.

Prevents Acid Reflux

People suffering from GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease), Acid Reflux, inflammation and heartburn should consume honey as the upward flow of acid in the stomach and undigested food can be reduced by it.

Fight Infections

Bacterias found in honey have antibacterial properties which can be used as an alternative to antibiotics. As honey is mildly acidic, therefore, it inhibits the growth of most bacteria and helps in fighting infections.

Replaces sugars in the diet

Adding sugars in the diet provides excess calories with no benefit to the body except empty calories which lead to high blood sugar level in the body, weight gain and also a risk of high blood pressure. So, it’s better to replace it with honey. It can be used in many desserts and beverages. Taking honey early morning in lemon water also helps to reduce weight and feeling fresh throughout the day.

Medicinal Use

Honey is widely used for treating many illnesses, ailments and injuries. In Ayurveda, honey has been used for many home remedies such as stress, weakness, sleeplessness, vision problem, bad breath, hiccups and obesity. It can also be used to treat cracked, dry and clogged skin.

Treats Dandruff

Honey is rich in Vitamins A, C, D, E, B Complex, Beta Carotenes and Minerals including Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Calcium and Phosphorus. All these nutrients help in preventing hair fall and reducing dandruff.
