As we all know that health can be defined as the complete physical, mental, social and psychological well being of the individual.There is a very famous slogan “the greatest wealth is health”.

Health is in our own hands so we should take care of it before its too late. Health is like the money we never have a true idea of its value until we lose it. Health starts with healthy foods, so we should take care of what we should include and what to exclude from the diet. We feel good after eating good food.

Eating healthy will help in:

  • maintaining our body weight.
  • giving a proper amount of energy.
  • reducing the risk of diseases which are happening due to faulty lifestyle and dietary habits such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, obesity, osteoporosis and various vitamin and mineral deficiency diseases.

Nowadays 95% of the diseases are caused by wrong or faulty food choices, toxic food ingredients, nutritional deficiencies and also lack of physical activity. So not only healthy food, healthy lifestyle also plays an important role in maintaining good health of the individual.

There are certain tips which should be kept in mind to maintain good health:

Say no to simple carbs and refined foods

We should avoid refined foods like suji, maida, etc in our diet. Fiber-rich foods like whole grains should be included in the diet as they help to feel full for a longer duration.

Include fruits in your diet

We should include fruits in our diet as they are rich in vitamins and minerals and are very beneficial for the body.

Say no to saturated fat and sugar

We know that fat is important in our diet but more than the quantity, the type of fat is more important. There are majorly saturated and unsaturated fats. Having saturated fats in the diet increases the risk of heart diseases. Saturated fats are found in foods such as hard cheese, cakes, cream, butter, lard, sausages. So we should avoid these from our diet.

Regular consumption of high sugar also causes obesity so we should limit the sugar in our diet. Sugar based drinks and high sugar based food should be also avoided.

Drink lots of water

Water is a very important component of our diet. It is also considered as a nutrient. We should include a good proportion of water in our diet. Around 3-4 liters of water is recommended for a day. It is also a detoxifier and acts as a carrier for many nutrients.

Avoid fast and fried foods

We should avoid fast foods because they are energy dense and contribute towards obesity and as we know that obesity is the major cause of various disease such as diabetes, hypertension, CVD.

Regular exercise

We should include regular exercise to our daily routine. At least 45 min. Of walking is essential for every individual. Everyone should include exercise because it keeps both the mind and body fresh and increases the BMR which is helpful in weight reduction.

We should start taking care of our health and it starts with good dietary habits and adopting a healthy lifestyle. We should take care of our diet by including more fruits and vegetables and by saying no to the fried and fast foods.
