Joint pain also referred to as arthralgia, is the most common complaint especially in adult women and elderlies. It is mainly caused by injury affecting any of the ligaments, bursae, or tendons surrounding the joint. Joint pain could be the result of an illness, injury or infection. Arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, gout, strains, and sprains are the most common cause of paining joints.
Further pain within the joints is a common factor that leads to shoulder pain, ankle pain, knee pain and very rarely it could be a cause of cancer of the joint. When the person is having joint pain, his body is in an inflammatory state, the increase in the level of inflammation can set up the person for other chronic conditions such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
Remedies for Joint pain relief:

  1. Sip Ginger Tea
    Various studies claim that ginger can mimic NSAIDs, which is the front-line drugs for arthritis pain relief. Ginger helps in curbing the pain-causing chemicals that are part of the body’s inflammatory response. Use of powdered, raw, or lightly cooked fresh ginger liberally in the food will provide great benefits. One should consume ginger tea to overcome the symptoms of joint pain. It can be easily prepared in the home, by simmering 4-5 slices of ginger for 15 minutes in a few cups of boiling water or one can buy ginger tea bags from the supermarket.
  2. Eat Inflammation-Fighting Foods
    Instead of fast food, junk food, fried food, and processed food one should include anti-inflammatory foods, herbs or spices in the diet. One of the studies on rheumatoid arthritis patients concluded that individuals who switched to a Mediterranean style-eating plan (includes fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, fish, olive oil, nuts, garlic, onions, and herbs) had less inflammation and early regaining of physical abilities.
  3. Giving Joints The Cold-Hot Treatment
    For this treatment, two containers are required, one filled with cold water and the other with hot water at a tolerable temperature. Immerse the hurting joint in the cold water for a minute and then switching to the hot water for 30 seconds. Continuously switch from cold to hot for about 15 minutes, immersing the affected joint in each for about 30 seconds each time. Finish with immersing in the cold water for a minute. The procedure will help in relieving from joint pain.
  4. Stir In Some Turmeric
    The yellow spice present in curries and ballpark mustard contains a powerful compound called curcumin, which inhibits enzymes and proteins that promote inflammation. Various studies claim that turmeric helps in reducing the pain and swelling in arthritis patients. One of the studies on people suffering from knee osteoarthritis says that those who ate only 2 grams of turmeric a day (less than a teaspoon) observed pain relief and increased mobility equal to those who took 800 milligrams of ibuprofen (an anti-inflammatory drug). One can sprinkle ½ teaspoon of turmeric on rice or in vegetables daily. Also keeping some packets of ballpark mustard in the pocket is a good idea as they’re the perfect dose for arthritis pain relief.
  5. Make Sure You Get Enough Vitamin C
    Vitamin C not only helps produce collagen, a major component of joints but also reduces the free radicals from the body, which are harmful to joints. One of the studies on vitamin C and arthritis concluded that people whose routine diet included high amounts of vitamin C had significantly less risk of their arthritis progressing. One should spread out the intake of vitamin C throughout the day because the body doesn’t store vitamin C, rather, it takes the required amount from the bloodstream at any given time and flushes out the rest. Sip citrus drinks and include vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables such as amla, strawberries,  melon, broccoli, or sweet peppers in the diet.
  6. Add Cloves To Your Diet
    Cloves contain an anti-inflammatory chemical called eugenol that interferes with a bodily process which triggers arthritis. Cloves are known to be rich in antioxidants, which are necessary for slowing the cartilage and bone damage caused by arthritis. consuming ½ to 1 teaspoon a day will be of great benefit.
